OUR AREAS OF FOCUS

Menstrual Health Hygiene

We believe in empowering girls and women to unleash their confidence and ensure that nothing comes in the way of achieving their dreams. Through our school outreaches, we continue to challenge the barriers surrounding menstrual hygiene through education in schools and multi-stakeholder engagement to advocate for change. Our aim is to educate and empower young girls about menstruation health and hygiene. Through direct participation, we hope to help girls through the transitional stages of puberty, menstruation, and the need of maintaining excellent hygiene and sanitation.

Sex education and Teenage Pregnancy

By providing young people with accurate information about reproductive health, contraception, and healthy relationships during our school outreaches, we empower them to make informed choices and protect themselves from unintended pregnancies. It’s essential to integrate age-appropriate sex education into school curricula and ensure that it is accessible to all adolescents, regardless of their background or circumstances. Comprehensive sex education plays a crucial role in preventing teenage pregnancies.

Mental Health Education

Mental health among youth in Uganda is a significant concern. Recent statistics indicate that 21% of secondary school adolescents suffer from depression, while 26.6% experience anxiety. These rates are notably higher among females, with 29.7% affected by anxiety. The challenges faced by young people such as poverty, disease, and the aftermath of civil unrest, contribute to these high rates of mental health issues. By promoting mental health education, addressing stigma surrounding mental health, and integrating mental health education into school curriculum, schools can provide students with the tools they need to navigate the challenges of life and promote lifelong mental wellness. Mental health education is critical for promoting the well-being of students in schools.

Tree planting in schools

By promoting tree planting in schools, we hope to instill in the students a sense of environmental knowledge and consciousness, empowering them to become activists for environmental protection in their local communities. By instilling a sense of environmental stewardship at an early stage of education, we aim to secure a more sustainable and harmonious future for generations to come. The success of our recent outreaches at Layibi Central Primary School, Vanguard Primary School and St. Peter’s Primary School is a testament to their unwavering dedication to creating a greener and more conscious society, one school at a time.
